Great meeting hosted by the West Somerset Village History Society; thank you colleagues for generous hospitality, tea and cakes.

 

Post meeting talks by Mary Siraut on 'Monksilver' (see http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=117140) and Mike Jones on 'Brendon Hills Iron Ore Mines' (see http://www.westsomersetmineralrailway.org.uk/welcome/).

 

Afternoon tours of Cleeve Abbey, Watchet or iron ore mines.

 



New Publications from SANHS

On November 5 in St Mary's Church, Bridgwater, a new publication entitled 'Church Bells of Somerset' will be launched by its editor David Bromwich.  The Master of the Bath & Wells Diocesan Association of Change Ringers is officially re-opening the association's library and launching the book at 11 am.  The church, its coffee shop and the library will be open from 10 am to 12 noon.
